Roku Channel Development

If you don't have a Roku box already or don't know what Roku is, let us explain:

In a nutshell, Roku is a streaming media player that hooks up to your TV and streams via your wi-fi hotspot. There are hundreds of channels including such favorites as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Instant, Crackle and many more. They also allow developers to create their own channels thus giving content owners the ability to showcase their material to a brand new audience, some of which may or may not find them on the Internet. With that being said, let us give you a rundown of why you might need a Roku Channel to promote your business:

1) Roku passed sales of 10 million units in September 2014. That is 10 million people willing to spend $49 + on a Roku device because they aren't satisfied with regular television broadcasts. Plus there are now "Roku Ready TV's" meaning they come pre-loaded with the Roku streaming stick. There are also many other devices that are Roku Ready. Roku claims its users are streaming 37 million hours of content per week, compared with just 15 million hours  by Apple TV users.

2) Reaching Roku users is the easy part. Once your channel is live, it is listed in the channel store that users can browse through or search. Currently there are around 2,000 channels - that pales in comparison to the amount of video — and “channels” — on YouTube, Vimeo, DailyMotion, etc. Your content is literally LOST on those sites, but on Roku it can easily be right out front — in fact, every new channel they add is featured in the New Channels section for several days, resulting in an immediate rush of curious viewers — 10 to 12,000 new viewers your first week is practically guaranteed. When’s the last time you got 12,000 YouTube views in one week?  A Roku Channel is a video marketing tool like no other. Plus having your own TV channel is instant credibility! That said, the Roku channel extends your REACH — many of your “new” viewers will be people who would not have otherwise found you online — they’re outside the range of your marketing bias. Currently there is no streaming media publishing platform which rivals the viewership numbers of ROKU!
